Office Relocation – Case Study

Overview:

Stevens Construction was expanding and due to relocate from the existing office to new larger premises.  Existing infrastructure would not meet their requirements and would need to be completely replaced.

Background:

Based in an office within the home of the owner at Stevens Construction, the company made the decision to relocate to new premises following expansion.

The new office space in Marden, would be much larger across two floors allowing for even further expansion as the company continues to grow.  In the meantime, the building was to be sub-divided, with the option to rent out space that currently not required by Stevens Construction.

The new offices existing infrastructure to be updated to meet their needs, including new cabling and access points, security systems, electronic door control along with a new phone system and leased lines.

Solution:

MPR IT Solutions has been providing support for ongoing day to day IT support, Domain registrations, anti-virus software and Office 365, since 2011.

Stevens Construction knew that MPR Technical Services and MPR IT Solutions work together for larger projects. With a collaborative relationship they could be assured of strong communication and enhanced understanding of the work required and for any further on-going support.

 Results:

After an initial consultation and review of the plans and requirements, MPR Technical Services proposed a cost-effective solution by re-purposing some of the hardware equipment from the current office, within the new office.  Helping to meet the needs of Stevens Construction both physically and in budget.

Working alongside other trades, completing building works, MPR Technical Services carried out the following projects:

  • CCTV
  • Security Alarms
  • Paxton Door entry system
  • Cat 6 cable network with access points
  • Hosted Phone System for 9 Users
  • Re-location of Server

The hosted phone system gave the freedom to move offices and quickly implement the changes with minimal disruption to clients, unlike a traditional phone line.  Softphone software offers the flexibility for calls to be answered in the office, on your mobile or from a computer with speakers and microphone.
